This 10-hour certificate program is designed to enhance individual, as well as organizational capabilities, to promote awareness and education around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The workshops focus on strategies to mitigate, if not prevent, engagements that diminish opportunities for community building. Participants are provided with an in depth understanding of the critical role law enforcement plays in ensuring public safety and community well-being, but more importantly, their vital role as members of the community rather than solely its protectors. Additionally, the workshops discuss the importance of law enforcement serving as some of the community’s most significant ambassadors. The program also focuses on strategies to dismantle the "us versus them" mentality, which too often exists as a source of tension and conflict between law enforcement officials and the communities being served. The program is presented in five 2-hour sessions, however, depending on specific requests, alternative schedules can occur.
